How to prepare your home for a newborn session

  1. Switch out any lights

Yes even on a gloomy day, my camera can handle it - Indoor lights effect the final result of your image by creating mixed lighting. I work with natual light to create the end result, so if there are lights on when I arrive i’ll pop them off.

2. Declutter the areas we may shoot in

So we dont live in a pinterest world (well I don’t anyway) and somtimes our homes need a little decluttering before a session.

Hide things things like charging cables, TV remotes, water glasses and phones.

Most common areas I use are the master bedroom, lounge and nursery. If you have any worries about where we might shoot in your home, please message me and we can discuss this in more detail.

I will however say, I can help you with this if you havent had time before I arrive.

3. Put on some neutral bedding

If you think we might be shooting in the bester bedroom, put the most nuetral bedding you own on. This helps us not have any colour casting in your images and makes the final result beautiful!

4. Make it warm, but comfotable

Get the house nice and warm. Babies are the most sleepy and comfotable when they are warm. It helps with changes and means we can expose them without them getting too upset about it.

5. Give your mirrors a quick clean

If a room has a mirror in it, you can almost guarantee i’ll use it to get a creative image. get rid of those smudges.
