How to get the best from your family photoshoot /Pembrokeshire
So, what should you do to get the best from your family photo session?
Attitude
Show up with a care free attitude and be willing to let it all go and have fun. I know, I know … you have probably stressed out getting everyone ready and out the door, people shouting at each other and tempers (and shoes) flying before you arrive, but just take a deep breath when you get out of the car, and let it all go! Be the best version of yourselves and don’t let anything stop you from enjoying this time as a family. Because ultimatley, that what it’s all about. The photos are just a bonus I promise.
Keep connecting with each other
By this I mean touch each other and be as close as you can. A photo can be elevated so much just by a few extra points of connection. So If you don’t know what to do with your hands, pop them on someones cheek, or play with thier hair, or stroke thier arm. ANYTHING - just touch :)
Do what you know
You know your children better than anyone in the world. The fact that they are getting an hour of uninterupted family time is usually enough to keep them happy. I will pull all the tricks I have up my sleeve to get them to have a good time, but ultimatley, you know them best and you know what makes them tick. Some kids love to be thrown around - while for others that might be the worst thing we could do.
Play
I’ll do a lot of directing, but there will be times where I will just go with what’s happening in front of me. For example in this session, we got the shots we needed of the boys with their family and they were desperate to run and play, so we rolled with it and they came back once they had burned off a bit of energy. It gave me a chance to capture some intimate shots of mum feeding baby, while still capturing them running around and having fun in the background.
And between all the fun and games I might ask you to look at the camera for a couple of shots. The best thing is, the kids harldy notice ;)
If that sounds good to you, drop me a message to chat about your session
